Dog-Friendly Holiday Apartment in the Jurapark Aargau – Nature in Mandach

The Jurapark Aargau is one of the quieter corners of Switzerland – and that's precisely what makes it so valuable for dog owners. Instead of crowded hotspots, you'll find gentle hills, shady forests and quiet field paths where you can both unwind. The landscape is varied without being demanding: short loops for easy days, longer routes for active dogs.

Mandach sits right in the middle, surrounded by vines and woodland. You can set off straight from the village without first getting into the car. For many dog owners, that's the greatest luxury: open the door, clip on the lead, and the adventure begins. Most paths are natural underfoot and gentle on paws.

This family flat offers around 100 m² of space for up to seven people, making it ideal for families or groups who simply want to bring their dog along. Good to know: the smaller studio, Hügelruhe 2 (around 25 m², up to two people), is not set up for dogs. So if you're arriving with a dog, Hügelruhe 1 is the right choice. That way everyone knows what to expect from the start – with no unpleasant surprises on arrival.

After a long walk, the apartment is a calm place to settle in. Tired paws, contented people, a cosy evening in the green – often that's all you need for a good holiday with your dog.

There are several lovely paths around Mandach that are well suited to exploring with a dog. The Bänklirundweg leads gently through the surroundings and, with its benches, invites you to take a little break again and again – perfect for days meant to be taken at an easy pace.

For a bit more to discover, try the Hexenhüsli and forest nature trail: woodland, fresh air and a little learning for the humans while your dog enjoys all the scents. If you're after wide views, the Redlisacher panorama trail is the one – here the Jurapark landscape opens up and rewards you with views over hills and vines.

Whichever loop you choose: bring enough water, plan breaks and match the pace to your dog. Wildlife lives in the forests and fields, so please pay attention to local signs and rules, for example regarding leash requirements and breeding seasons. That keeps the outing relaxed for everyone and respectful towards nature.

Pack the essentials for your dog: familiar food, a bowl, a water bottle for the trail, towels for muddy paws and a bed that smells of home. In a new environment, familiar things give your dog security – and you more relaxed days.

Plan varied days: a longer loop through forest and vines in the morning, a quiet break in the apartment at midday, then a short walk in the late afternoon. That way your dog stays content without being overwhelmed – and you still have time for an outing to Brugg or Baden.

In summer, keep an eye on the hot midday hours and seek shade on longer routes. And remember that not every dog loves car rides – short distances like Brugg are a good compromise between adventure and rest.
